Buying a guitar online without first playing it is sometimes viewed by many as being very risky. On the other hand, when a musician decides to purchase a guitar from a manufacturer that has been in the business for very many years, more often than not their products are first class.Strong competition from other guitar makers in respect of quality and affordability forces companies to pursue product excellence. Aria is such a company. I wish to congratulate Aria for a fine work of art and craftmanship in their Gypsy Jazz Guitar MM-10. I play mostly jazz and have owned, played and experimented with all kinds of acoustic guitars in search for a jazz tone, volumne, finger board playability and overall balance and projection.I have found these attributes in the Aria MM-10 Gypsy Jazz Acoustic. I examined the guitar very thoroughly when it was delivered to my home,and have found no manufacturer's defects.The action was just right out of the box. The guitar holds the tuning very well.I used this guitar in jam sessions with my friends who own expensive acoustics, but they could not drown me out when it comes to volumne. It is also great for finger style playing and feels like a nylon acoustic.It came with argentine strings. I am so impressed with this guitar that I am contemplating purchasing their parlor guitar model A19C-200S without even playing it first, if it is available at Amazon at a very affordable price.

You can't go wrong in purchasing the Aria MM-10 Gypsy Jazz Acoustic with such great craftmanship and affordability.

I have been through a few guitars after I got back into playing several years ago. I got a Gibson Les Paul in a trade for an 74 MG Midget I had. I really liked it and actually bought another Gibson type guitar, an EPIPHONE Riveria P93, the head angles are the same. I saw the Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts and the Fender Strat he was playing. I had to try one so I got a Squire Affinity and really enjoyed the easy bending of notes. I was going to get a Fender Strat but saw an AD for Godin Guitars in PG Mag and read alot about them. I found this Godin SD22 on Amazon and the price was incredible, I bought it and have played nothing but it since. I want to get a GODIN Xtsa actually and spend a few more dollars. So that is my next purchase but for now I will be lovin thsi SD22.

The SD 22 combines the easy feel of a short scale with the added snap of a rock maple neck. The short scale reduces string tension, which provides easy string bending and augments the low frequency response. The compact feel of the neck and the diagonal radius carved into the body produces exceptional balance and comfort. In short, this guitar is fun to play, and lends itself to classic rock and R&B sounds.

Maple and Poplar Body

The SD 22 is constructed with a blend of two tonewoods. A center of silver leaf maple serves as an anchor for the neck and is flanked by poplar sidepieces, resulting in Godin's stated goal of making electrics that begin with a great acoustic sound. Solid body instruments may not produce much in the way of volume, but make no mistake, wood weight and density, type (and quality) of the neck/body attachment, type of bridge and nut material all have an impact on that final sound.

One Godin GHB1 humbucker and two Godin GS1 single-coil pickups, along with a five-way switch for serious tonal options.

Rock Maple Neck With Rosewood Fingerboard

There are many grades of maple available out there. "Rock maple" is the term often used to describe a particularly hard variety of the wood that grows in colder climates. Rock maple necks produce excellent sustain, stability and feel, and pair up equally well with Rosewood and Maple fingerboards.

The SD 22's rosewood fingerboard further emphasizes the neck's mid-range, producing a more aggressive sound. The "22" stands for 22 frets, of course. The fingerboard features classic dot inlays.

Neck Fit/Pitch

The angle of the neck attachment--called pitch--has a huge impact on sound. A slight tilt forward will cause the guitar to sound boomy, a slight tilt backwards can make the guitar sound tinny. Equally important is the fit of the neck into the body. Godin guitars are renowned for tight-fitting neck attachments that support excellent neck/body energy transfer and precise neck pitch.

Godin Ergocut

Every Godin neck features an Ergocut shaping technique which bevels the edges of the fingerboard and frets back in towards the center of the fingerboard, providing an extremely comfortable worn-in feel.

The SD is loaded with one Godin GHB1 Humbucker and two Godin GS1 Single coil pickups, along with a five-way switch for maximum sonic power. The pickups share a volume and tone control.

Graph Tech "Tusq" Nut

The precision Tusq nut is made with Graph Tech's "man made ivory," which couples the strings' vibrations to the neck and is impregnated with Teflon to improve the tuning performance of your guitar. The highly resonant material also means you'll get crystal-clear, bell-like high end, big open lows, and an overall sustain increase.

I bought this guitar from a local dealer brand new after finding out my old guitar had some major fret lift problems. I am a beginner as well. So naturally, when choosing a new guitar, the dealer was kind enough to play several models, which included Yamaha, Sierra, and Fender. The Jasmine was the last instrument he played and where I may have felt hesitation or indecision with the other models, I instantly fell in love with the sound that came from this Jasmine. It was a no brainer for me. I am not a pro, and I have not been playing guitar for longer than a few months, so believe me, when I tell you there is an astounding difference in tone with this guitar, I am not lying to you. The Jasmine has a bright, airy, very acoustic sound to it and really does present music to the ears. It's not only beautiful, but easy to play as well.

This guitar has a laminate finish, so it's shine is attractive. There is also onboard electronics giving the artist an option to amplify the sound of the guitar, but it's not nessecary if you want to just play without one. The frets are easy to finger and there is just enough spacing between the strings for a learner to become quickly accustomed to chord changeups with little delay.

I did not use the strings that came with the guitar, instead I went with coated strings with smaller diameters (so it would be easier for me to finger the instrument). The pickguard is functional, and no, the brand name of the guitar isn't printed over and over, as another user said, remove the sticker and you are good to go. I intend to switch out my black guard for a tortoise one as that would really set off the beauty of this guitar even more and make it a little more my own.

If you're looking for a cheap guitar that sounds good then this is a good buy. The guitar has nice tones with distortion but doesn't sound as good clean. You will probably have to raise the action hight on the bottum two strings (A & E), as they tend to buzz on the frets alot. Other than that the playability is fine.
The guitar has a beautiful finish but doesn't really look like a les paul outside of the general body shape. Unlike a real les paul, the top of the body is completely flat and doesn't feature the white outline. Also, the head stock says "Special model" rather than "Les Paul model". This is a great guitar if you only care about the sound but if you want the look of a les paul it's better to go for an Epi LP 100 or LP Standard.
