The Brian May Signature Electric Guitar features an acoustically chambered mahogany body, a dual truss rod mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard. The pickups are Tri-Sonics that Brian sealed in Araldite adhesive to prevent microphonic feedback inherent with metal covered pickups. tl;dr: guitar is cheap, looks great, but default set of strings sucked (there was twanging). New set of strings and a little aging has fixed everything.

I got this guitar because I wanted a cheap starter instrument to learn with. I was originally leaning towards getting an electric guitar, but a basic Fender Strat starts at 0. I decided if I continued to play, I'd shell out for a really quality electric in a few years rather than risking the higher price point now.

The guitar came in excellent condition and looked great (it continues to look great to this day). However, the guitar sounded pretty lame and the G and D strings tended to resonate and make this really bad twanging noise. It sucked, but I considered it a flaw in the default strings rather than the guitar, so I didn't do anything except keep playing. I figured since I'd eventually change the strings anyways, it wasn't a big deal.

After 3-4 weeks of practicing 15-30 minutes a day, the high E string snapped (I was pretty surprised at how quickly it gave out). So I immediately put down for a quality set of new strings and restrung the guitar. Once I'd restrung the guitar, I found that it sounded considerably better but there was still a slight resonance and twanging from the G and D strings. However, I wasn't too concerned because I figured the twanging would cease as the guitar aged.

Sure enough, it's been a few months and the twanging has completely disappeared. The guitar sounds better than ever and this new set of strings is holding up great.

Overall: this is a great starter guitar in my opinion. Cheap, good looking, and good sounding given a bit of aging and the right set of strings.
