Make Mine a Double

The Freeway Classic is the first double cutaway design by Godin in several years. In spite of the tremendous success of the single cutaway design featured throughout the Godin line, there has always been a contingent of hard-core, double-cutaway enthusiasts encouraging Godin to do something for them. With that in mind, Godin went to work on the Freeway Classic. The basic formula is classic Godin: versatile, blues/rock gigging machine with "boutique guitar" build-quality at a blue-collar price.

Maple/Poplar Body

The Freeway's body consists of a center block of silver-leaf maple with light poplar wings. Silver-leaf maple is an excellent tone wood with a weight and density similar to mahogany. The warm tone of the silver-leaf provides a perfect compliment to the rock maple neck. To ensure you get the most from this potent combination, each neck and body are joined with a perfect wood-to-wood connection--free of paint or glue--that delivers maximum neck/body energy transfer. The sound of the silver-leaf maple comes at a price--it's heavy! To balance the guitar and achieve a comfortable weight the silver leaf core is flanked with light poplar wings. This ultimately produces a comfortably light guitar with "heavy guitar" resonance.

Rock Maple Neck

Godin's rock maple necks are known throughout the guitar industry for outstanding feel and boundless sustain. The 25-1/2" scale neck on the Freeway features Godin's ergo-cut shape and medium jumbo frets. Neck stability is insured by a double-action truss system capable of adding and removing relief in the neck.

Godin-Designed Pickups

The Godin humbucker-single-humbucker pickup configuration makes the most of excellent acoustic response of the Freeway. A double 5-way switch along with volume and tone controls supports the pickups, so you can dial in any number of tones you're after.

the guitar is beautiful, the case protects it very well, very comfortable to play and will give you all look good when playing live, I would give five stars, but there is one detail! my guitar came with a blow to one of the horns, which was a big disappointment for me because I pay for a new guitar, very badly by amazon to send an instrument with this detail, did not return because I live in another country and would be very expensive, this is something to consider when buying an instrument by internet, well I passed this detail and overall I am very pleased with this guitar sounds great and its design is just brutal, I hope my experience will be of help if not an even decided to buy it, fine by dean gutars continue to make these tremendous guitars and spreading wings across the world ..

The late great Dimebag Darrell is a serious metal guitar hero, and Dean's series of Dimebag models pays homage. Dimebag started playing Dean ML style guitars in the late '70s, and made it one of the most recognizable shapes today. Dean offers a wide variety of Dimebag models to choose from, all boasting Dimebag's distinctive look and tons of mojo and attitude.

Basswood Body
The Dimeblade features a lightweight basswood body. Basswood is great for heavier rock and metal styles, delivering a nice even tone that feeds a dirt pedal (or a dimed Marshall) nicely.

Bolt-On Construction
Bolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The DB's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with custom arrow inlays and a DB razor inlay at the 12th fret.

Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, which provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition.
